EyeContact's Bio

Part 1 - The beginning

I'm one of the so called CND-generation, I heard the news of a virtual spacestation being sold for $100K and decided I should check out what that was all about. Being Dutch, the promiss on the website that you could play for free was very interesting and made me create an account.
The whole download process took me like 3 nights and when I finally got it working it was past midnight; back then I still believed in the 8 hours sleep/night concept so I went to bed.
The next day, just like the few days before, I went to check Entropia Forum every now and then at work to get as much knowledge before starting as possible but then something happened...
I got a phonecall from my girlfriend, who was at home at that time looking for a job. She had fallen down from this little stairs we have between the living room and the kitchen and broke her ankle, the doctor was already there and an ambulance was on its way (we live in an apartment so she couldn't get down by herself). I rushed to the hospital and arrived there before the ambulance. They did some tests and it was a very nasty break. She had to have surgery and had to stay in the hospital for 4 days.
When I finally got home that night, it was very weird; alone, noone to talk to, nothing to do. I turned on the TV but couldnt concentrate, then I thought about "that game I had downloaded". I turned on the PC and logged in for the first time in the wonderful virtual world of Project Entropia.

Part 2 - TP run to Port Atlantis

I started out in Fort Troy, a lot of newb's were dropped there at the time, to take some load off the PA server. With all the information I had gathered on Entropia Forum I didn't have much problems with the controls and started to sweat right away. I was a bit nervous to chat to random people, but when I was somewhat further away from the main town, and the chat had turned silent, I saw another guy sweating there and started talking "Hi". He didn't reply, maybe he didn't understand, didn't matter, I could talk!
The next few nights, with the gf still in the hostpital, I pretty much got home from work, ordered a pizza, and started sweating. At some point I got bored with sweating and decided it was time to run to another town; TP gathering was another important job for noobs I read.
I had printed a map at work and looking at that I decided to go to a place called Port Atlantis. I started running north-west, avoiding all the red dots on the radar and I was pretty succesful I thought. I reached the first river, crossed the island, reached the second river, "hmm this was going all too easy", I thought. Not long after I saw a robot, I avoided it, but there was another one, and some other robot like creatures, but bigger. Finally one of them got me and I died. I revived and expected to be home again, in Fort Troy, but ... this wasn't Troy. This was something called an outpost. I looked at the map and thought "hey that's nice, I'm a lot closer to Port Atlantis now, all I need to do is run to the water and swim." The plan was good, but unfortunately there were a lot of big creatures in the area, Atroxes, Spiders, more different robots, every direction I tried got me into trouble and I kept reviving back at the outpost.
I wasn't alone though, the same people kept reviving there, most of them wearing orange clothes, we tried running as a group and also died as a group. Until someone showed up with a cool looking armor and a whole range of guns: Zapra Zap Greadon. He was gonna get all of us out of there he said. And after one or two tries, he indeed managed to get us all out of there and ran us all the way to ... Fort Troy. Thank you so much Zap, back where I started!

Part 3 - A Mentor!

So, what to do now, I read that it could be a good idea to get a mentor, but you had to be careful, because a lot of fakes were around, only interested in collecting the gift when you graduated. But clearly on my own I was never gonna get to another city and the idea of being stuck in Fort Troy for the rest of my career wasn't very appealing aswell.
So I looked around and there was a guy standing who looked very impressive, scary, with his long grey hair and face mask, but impressive. I started chatting with him and the first thing he said after I said "Hi" was: "Let me guess, you need a mentor".

I agreed and pressed the button: "You have succesfully been added as a disciple of Dale Dalewj Johnson". He proved to be the good kind of mentor, he ran me to some TP's, gave me a Jester, introduced me to some other disciples of his (Colonel Ernst, kyle 70 johnson)
He also told me it was time to get rid of my noob clothes, so he gave me a basic pattern pants, then he made me take off my orange shirt "because it looked less noobish". Right Dale, we all know you just wanted to see my tits!

Part 4 - Joining Hunters Unlimited

At some point I wanted to join a society. There really is not much to say about it, I already knew 2 guys in Hunters Unlimited (Zap & Dale) so I asked Dale if I could join. He talked about it with the leaders and they were willing to give me a chance, eventho I had next to zero skills.

Part 5 - First global

I started hunting around Troy after Dale gave me the Jester. I sold some sweat to buy ammo and loved to hunt. He repeatedly told me to get an RepEdge Battle Axe 1x0 so after selling some more sweat I bought one. I had met some other Dutch people at Twin Peaks and hunted Argonauts there for a while. Later I asked Dale what other mobs were good to hunt (I had switched to rifle again, with an Opalo + a103) and he told me to try some Cornundacauda's north of Caravan.
I did for a few weeks and it was here I got my first global, still one of my best item loots.Cornundacauda Dominant worth 143 peds with Nemesis Thighs (F) in it.

Part 6 - Graduation

On december 30th 2005 I was pretty close to graduating. I told dale I only needed 10 more levels and we went on a little graduation hunt with him and CE.

 Part 7 - 2006

Well what's to say, got quite a few globals, 1 team hof (with Dale, Jamira and CE, a nice 1400 ped argo), skilled up pretty nicely (not so fast as I'd liked but not bad either). But most important, I had a whole lot of fun.

Part 8 - 2007 and beyond

The new year started out nicely, got 4 hofs in the first 2 months (3 solo, 1 team) and I'm on my way to unlock coolness.
I hope the future will bring some nice new features and improve some of the existing systems (respawn during events!) and I hope to be part of the wonderful Hunters Unlimited society for a long time to come.
